Common questions about Crewed.
For crews
How does Crewed make money?
Crewed connects employers and crews. We don't take a cut of your wages or charge for matchmaking. Our revenue model is still evolving as we grow — we'll be transparent about any changes that affect you.
Do I need to form an LLC to use Crewed?
No. Most crews start as informal groups and work as W-2 employees once hired. Forming an LLC becomes useful as you grow — typically when you're earning $50k+/year as a crew, working multiple clients, or want liability protection.
Can I be in more than one crew?
You can only be an active member of one crew at a time on Crewed. You can leave your current crew and join another — but you can't be in both simultaneously.
What if my crew is just two people?
Two-person crews are real and common on Crewed. The platform is built to support crews of any size — from pairs to teams of 20+. The chemistry profile, engagement tracking, and member management work the same regardless of size.
How do I know if a crew leader will treat me fairly?
Look at the crew profile completeness and quality, the member list, the public engagement history, and whether the leader's communication feels professional and consistent. If something feels off in early conversations, trust your gut.
Can I leave a crew anytime?
Yes. You can leave a crew at any time through your profile settings. The leader is notified. Your membership ends, and you're free to join another crew.
What happens to my profile if I leave?
Your personal profile stays — it's yours. Your crew membership ends. Past engagement history with that crew is preserved.
How does pay actually work?
Depends on the engagement type. Permanent/W-2 employment: the employer pays each crew member individually. Project/contract work: either each member gets a 1099 directly, or the crew (as an LLC) bills the employer and the leader distributes pay.
Crewed records the agreed terms but doesn't process payments.
What if my crew leader is making bad decisions?
Talk to them directly first. If that fails: members can leave and join another crew, leadership can be transferred (the current leader has to initiate this), or crews can dissolve. Members signal disagreement on engagements through the thumbs up/down vote (advisory — leader still decides).
Do I need professional photos?
No, but better photos perform better. Real headshots and real crew photos convey trust. Avoid stock images and placeholder graphics — Crewed's image moderation rejects these.
For employers
How do I know a crew is real?
Look at profile completeness, the chemistry profile aggregate, member count and tenure, engagement history, and the AI Team Overview.
What happens if a crew falls through after I hire them?
Crewed records the engagement but doesn't enforce it. If a crew commits and disappears, you can mark the engagement as cancelled. The crew's profile shows the cancelled engagement.
Can I poach individual members from a crew?
You can offer them direct employment, but it's bad form to do so without involving the leader. Some crews have internal non-solicitation agreements.
How do I post if I have multiple openings?
Post each as a separate listing.
What if my listing isn't getting applications?
Common reasons: pay range is too low or unclear, description is vague, required skills don't match what crews offer, profile is incomplete. Edit the listing and try a wider pay range.
For everyone
Is Crewed free to use?
Yes for all V1 features.
Where is my data stored?
Crewed uses Supabase for data storage and infrastructure. Data is hosted in the US.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. Account deletion is permanent and removes your profile, crew membership, chat history, and engagement records.

Currently focused on the US. International expansion is on the roadmap.
How do I report inappropriate content or behavior?
For images and content: most are auto-moderated. If something gets through, contact us at hello@mycrewed.com.
How does the AI Team Overview work?
When you view a crew's profile, AI generates a summary based on the crew's data — bios, work history, certifications, chemistry profile. It's auto-generated, not edited by the crew.
